Malo e lelei, Bula vi naka, Kia orana Nga mihi nui ki a koutou, Namaste, Nihao,
Greetings to you all.
The weather continues to be
amazing and our students are enjoying this wonderful opportunity to be outdoors
and swimming. The Year 6 students have had another successful CAMP at Long Bay.
Thanks to all the enthusiastic parents who helped out again and for the
Teachers, Mr Borcher, Mrs Houghton and Mrs Kernot for their help as well.

the office or Belinda Johnston.
HELMETS
Please ensure that your
children are wearing helmets (correctly fitted) if they are using bicycles and
scooter.
PTA
Congratulations to Leeyan
Stephens, Chairperson, and Karen Lusis, Treasurer, elected at Tuesday evenings
PTA AGM. Many thanks to all the new attendees, we look forward to working with
you this year. Thanks for all the hard
work in 2012 and your contributions to the school funds and equipment, we
really appreciate all that you do.
LOST PROPERTY
There seems to be an
increasing pile of Lost Property outside Room 8 and 9. Please ensure that you
name all the articles of clothing and shoes that your child wears including
swimming togs, towels, goggles and undies. It is really hard to track the
owners of the items especially as they all look the same only variations of
sizes.
DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP EVENING
Thank you to those of you
who attended this valuable evening. We are continually concerned with the
rising usage of technological equipment that goes unmonitored by adults as
there is an increasing number of undesirables lurking out there on the Internet.
Please could you keep a close eye on what your child/ren are doing on the
computer so as to prevent any issues that may arise.
FIREWOOD
We are slowly selling our
firewood on the field. There is still some available. Please contact the office
if you wish to purchase a trailer load for $25.00.
3 WAY CONFERENCES
Please register online or return the slip to the office to book your
time to see your child/ren teacher/s on Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 March from
3.30 – 7.30 pm in the classrooms with your child.
WHEELS DAY WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY MARCH 14 further details in the PTA
newsletter (PINK sheet)
Have
a lovely weekend

Looking Ahead
Board Of Trustee Elections are to be held this year. Election day is 30 May 2013. These elections are a chance for
everyone in the school community to have a say in choosing the people who will
govern and provide the vision for their school. Elm Park School requires five
parent representatives. Here is some feedback about what being on the Board
meant to past Trustees from around the country.
“My view is simple – it’s your school, your
children attending the school. We all want the best for children and now is
your opportunity to be part of it”. Eric Kjestrup, Bucklands Beach Primary School.
“I would encourage others to be involved. It
can be too easy to stand back and criticise, rather than participate. People
are often too willing to say they don’t like something, yet there is the
opportunity to have your say”. Sue Becker, Cromwell College.
“Trusteeship has been instrumental to a huge
personal growth and development in me and I have seen that happening and I know
it has happened – it definitely broadens your mind. Personally it has helped me
a lot and it has expanded my views”. Jodie Cook, Mata School.
Walking School Bus - Come and walk with a walking school bus next Friday 8 March and join us when we get to school for Milo & muffins. We will also have a trial bus leaving from the cnr Pakuranga Rd & Gossamer Dr 8.30 am
Focus on Children
Camp M.E.R.C
On Wednesday 20th February the Year 6’s
went on a trip to Sir Peter Blake Marine Education and Recreation Centre at
Long Bay, Auckland for a 2 nights 3 day visit.
There we took part in eight different challenging
activities. They were Tree Climbing, Abseiling, Sailing, Climbing,
Archery, Surfing, Sling Shot and Stack ‘em High.
All of the activities made us work together, learn new
skills and have lots and lots of fun. Lots of us had never experienced
these activities before so they required a lot of perseverance and teamwork.
One of the highlights for all of us was the delicious
food made for us by Mrs Houghton. We had burgers and a roast chicken
dinner as well as plenty of fruit, cakes and tasty biscuits. We were even
allowed to have seconds!!
We were all very sad to leave Camp M.E.R.C as we all
had the best time. We would like to say a big thank you to all the parent
helpers who gave up their time to come and support us.
Fingers crossed we all get to go back! Room 21 Boys
